A time of struggle

II Corinthians 4:7-9 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;....

A life filled without struggles would be a death sentence to some creatures. Without the first cry of a newborn babe could end with weakened lungs, pneumonia and death. A butterfly would never soar without the battle to overcome the cocoon. A life without pain receptors causes the leper or diabetic to lose limb and eventually brings death. Just know God is aware of our fragile clay. With all we do and experience He is shaping us if we will let him.
Anais Nin says, "And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud became more painful than the risk it took to blossom."
