"Go, and say to Hezekiah, Thus saith the Lord, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will add unto thy days fifteen years. (Isaiah 38:5)"
What would happen if God answers my prayer exactly as I wish him to answer it? Like a patient in the hospital getting news from his recent tests Hezekiah had been informed of his impending death. Following his bad news he turned his face to the wall he cried out to God for healing and God gave him fifteen more years. Here's the kicker. God blessed the king and gave him a child as well. Now not to suffer injustice against one of the great biblical kings it must be understood that he trusted God, and is numbered with the great kings of Israel, David and Josiah. Even the wisdom of Hezekiah is seen in that the men of Hezekiah compiled the Proverbs 25-29. Yet Hezekiah made some grevious mistakes with his answered prayer. He openly showed his previous treasures to foreign dignitaries who stole from him. Then with the remaining years he spoiled his son manasseh who in turn became one of the most wicked kings in the bible. Although by the end of manasseh's life he found God during his life the mentor and friend of Hezekiah, the prophet Isaiah was martyred. So what would you do if God gave you exactly what you are asking for? Would you waste your answer upon the time given to you or would you redeem the time and do something great for God?
